When thinking through the furniture and storage needs in your home, most of us head to stores or shopping sites like Amazon and Wayfair. However, that is not the only way to tackle the problem.
As a designer, I not only create beautiful and functional spaces but also the custom and semi-custom cabinetry that can be built to add the finishing touches to your home.
Notice the custom niche in this bathroom, hidden behind the shower? It could have easily been an open space, but then you lose the advantage of being able to hide those items that are not as attractive (toothbrushes, hairdryers, etc.). We like to take advantage of hidden storage too!
Here’s another example with built-in banquette seating. This is such a cozy spot for a family to gather for a meal or do homework out of the way of the main traffic space in a room.
Who doesn’t need a landing spot when you come home after a long, busy day? This space is perfect for backpacks and coats, and a convenient seat for taking off shoes. The beautiful cabinetry does not look like an afterthought and it really ties into the decor of the rest of the home.
There are so many opportunities to maximize storage and offer additional organization that makes your life easier. I have included a few other thoughts like outdoor kitchens, home offices, or even custom buffets in the dining room. The opportunities are endless and only limited by our imagination.
