Anne Marie Design Studio: Featured in St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles Magazine
When it comes to creating a space that caters to the diverse needs of an entire family, Anne Marie Design Studio stands as a beacon of innovation and creativity. Recently, our exceptional work was showcased in St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles Magazine, where we transformed a Fenton family’s lower level into a luxurious yet kid-friendly haven.
Luxury Meets Playtime: A Dream Renovation
Imagine having a space where both kids and adults can thrive, a place where gatherings are not only comfortable but also lavish. This was the vision of a Fenton couple who decided to embark on a journey to renovate their lower level. Anne Marie Boedges, the visionary designer and president of Anne Marie Design Studio, LLC, was entrusted with the task of bringing this dream
to life.
The lower level, with its outdated design and layout, was due for a major makeover. The goal was to create an atmosphere that exudes luxury while still being practical for the children’s activities. With dedication and creativity, Anne Marie and her team embarked on this incredible journey of transformation.
A Multifunctional Oasis
After months of meticulous planning and hard work, the lower level was reborn into a multifunctional oasis. The main area now boasts an open-seating bar space that rivals the atmosphere of a tavern or a high-end bar. It’s a place where guests can not only enjoy a drink but also serve themselves. The beverage area features a massive built-in refrigerator and freezer, along with a wine column and locked cabinetry for liquor storage.
The renovation didn’t stop at the adults’ domain; it extended to cater to the needs of the children as well. Recognizing that kids and their friends would frequently visit, a separate beverage area was designed. This space is equipped with all the essentials: a sink, microwave, dishwasher, storage, and even a washer and dryer. Now, the kids can prepare their own snacks and drinks before heading to the gorgeous backyard pool.
Saying Goodbye to the Past
During the renovation process, a dated built-in cubby unit, reminiscent of the ’90s era, was removed. This transformation created room for a storage closet and two recessed televisions. The addition of wall sconces surrounding the TVs added a touch of luxury and elegance to the space.
The highlight of the lower level is undoubtedly the stunning real wood flooring laid out in a triple herringbone pattern. The extra effort put into installing this flooring paid off, as it catches the eye with every turn, reflecting light in different directions.
A Home Theater Experience
To cater to the family’s love for movie nights, a home theater room was created. Furnished with comfortable seating, a dropped ceiling, and vibrant blue carpeting to enhance acoustics, this room is perfect for cinematic experiences. It also includes another bar, a beverage refrigerator, and a microwave for popcorn, ensuring that movie nights are complete. Throughout the lower level, wall art photos of famously funny movie scenes alternate with wall sconces, adding a personalized touch and contributing to the luxurious ambiance.
A Collaborative Journey
Anne Marie Design Studio’s approach to this project was marked by collaboration and creativity. The homeowners were open to exploring new ideas, allowing the team to bring their vision to life seamlessly. Anne Marie proudly stated, “It’s luxury meets playtime, meets bar, meets theater. It’s fantastic. It’s exactly them.”
