This client envisioned the ideal space to raise their little boy. They wanted a perfect gathering place to talk about the Cardinals game they just watched, and their son’s latest science project. A place to teach him about science, and how to make a cherry pie with grandma’s recipe. Raising him in Anne’s hometown, this project was near and dear to our heart.
To create a large space accommodating their family’s needs, we removed a connecting wall between the kitchen and living room. This created an additional dining area for an island, doubling their seating! Covering a structural I-beam, we turned a necessary eyesore into a beautiful focal point of the room, after brainstorming options with the client. We used inset cabinetry to give the storage space a better aesthetic. Adding a nook with a desk for their boy’s studies, and an extra wash sink for muddy hands and dirty clothes, we created a functional space to raise their growing family.
