Stylecraft Home — Featured Article in St. Louis Magazine

We are so excited to announce that one of our latest kitchen designs has been featured in St. Louis Magazine! For over 15 years, we have been helping our clients capture their personality and lifestyle through our designs — we are so honored that even more homeowners in the St. Louis area can bring their home visions to life.

When we were tasked with the project of designing this kitchen, we knew that our client wanted more than the average St. Louis kitchen — they wanted to make a statement. We knew the easiest way to accomplish this goal was to design a unique, yet functional island.

As I was coming up with the design, I wanted an island that still offered plenty of seating but wasn’t the typical “overhang with barstools” that you see in most homes today. The answer; a built-in banquette. Not only does this design give the homeowner plenty of counter space for serving, but there is also plenty of seating space to host parties or gatherings.

When it came to the color of the kitchen, the client had requested a blend of tones that didn’t resemble those in other houses found on the market. We felt that light and fresh tones in the floors and cabinets helped to lighten up the room, while the gold lanterns and navy cabinets added a subtle pop of color.

The archway between the two ceiling-length cabinets leads to a pantry and mudroom — while providing balance in the space. This creates a passageway between the two spaces, subtly separating the rooms and giving the illusion of even more space! We also decided to utilize hidden appliances, such as the refrigerator (cabinet on the left) and freezer (cabinet on the right), to help maximize the countertop space and avoid a cluttered kitchen.
